Home for the Friendless
Home for the Friendless, New York City orphanage supported in the early days by the Wainscott Sewing Society. One of the early missions of the Wainscott Sewing Society was working all year to sew clothes for Orphans in New York City. They would gather to ”pack the barrel” full of things in need at the orphanage. The early Sewing Society also raised money for the graveyard fence and sidewalks down Main Street, Wainscott.
